2 School: Ste-Hélène, in Breakeyville. Group: 1 group of 6 th graders in intensive English. Level of the class: Some of the were very good while others had a lot of difficulties.

3 Project complete over 2 weeks. Activation of prior knowledge: Getting to know the Olympic sports. New information Getting to know the required equipments for every sports. Acknowledging the rules of an Olympic sports.

4 Final Project Create a new sport. To evaluate: C1 C2 C3

5 Show and tell: Im showing a picture and students had to tell me the name of the sport. Brainstorming about all the sports: Put the students in team of 4. Its a competition about who will find more sports than all the other teams.

6 Round Robin about equipments: Students had to discuss a specific sport and give me three information. Who is playing the sport: tennis player for tennis Where : on a tennis court. What is the required equipment: Racket, ball, net, shoes and clothes. Go Fish: Match the sport with the equipments.

7 Rules: The teacher reads the rule about basketball. Students then have to write the rules about the sport of their choice. The aim is to have the students work with the verbs can and cant, or any other verbs expressing permission or possibility and the negative form of those elements.

8 The student booklet also contains: Crosswords Mystery words Cool facts about Olympics

9 First make a timeline expressing all the periods allowed to complete that final project. In teams of 2: The students have to think about a new sport. The students have to do a poster about that new sport. The students received guidelines regarding what have to be on the poster. 1: A text describing the sport in general and the required equipments 2: 10 rules about their sport. 3: Drawing about the name of the sport and a scene of action illustrating the sport itself.

10 C1 oral interactions: When everything is done they make an oral presentation. C2 reinvesting the understanding of a text: You evaluate the posters since they had to follow guidelines. Is everything on that poster, too much or not enough. (Grid) C3 produces texts: Evaluate the text they made about their sport.

11 This project is highly motivating for boys AND girls. Depends on the group, however I didnt need to make a lot of discipline. Its a lot of fun and students have the chance to really be creative.
