Figure 2 | Differences between MC and AC. MCs have tumour characteristics that might explain resistance to systemic therapy especially in the setting of advanced-stage disease, including microsatellite instability, less favourable intrinsic tumour characteristics and the formation of multiple metastases when compared with AC. The effects of differences in tumour microenvironment (including in the mucous layer and vasculature) are currently hypothetical.
