Present definition used for SSS statistics (from Communication of the Commission 317 of 29/6/1999):
a) EU, Norway, Iceland, Baltic, Black & Mediterranean b) including feeder services c) including to/from islands
Future (requirements from MOVE) to better suit policy monitoring purposes (« modal shift »): c) excluding maritime transport services without competitors in other transport modes (« monopoly » situation): islands, selected short distance services, etc  present framework b) excluding (or, better, separating) feedering  additional data needed  conceptual work (TF ?) a) Barents and White Seas excluded ?  present framework
