1 Climbing The Mountain Of Success De Bohun Primary School
A new teaching model at De Bohun Primary School

2 You are going to be part of an exciting new project…
Here are the changes you will see in your classroom…

3 Every lesson, your teacher will…
Set you FOUR different challenges of work! Each one is a little bit harder!

4 Every lesson, your teacher will…
Tell you where you are starting by putting your name on this chart. When you come into the lesson, you can start straight away! But, if you are finding the work too easy…you can move your own name onto the next mountain for a tougher challenge! Or, if you’re finding the work too hard, you can move you name to the previous mountain. You will be able to find all the work at the Base Camp in your classroom.

5 Every lesson, your teacher will…
Work closely with the children climbing Scafell Pike… Let all the children climbing these mountains work INDEPENDENTLY!

6 Every lesson, your teacher will…
NOT MARK YOUR WORK! You might even be asked to ask your friend what to do to improve, or even think about it yourself… Instead your teacher will work really hard to tell you during the lesson what you need to do to improve your work and climb the mountain. You have to write this in your own book, using one of our ‘climbing the mountain’ labels. You will be the only person writing in your book using your new ‘mountaineering pen’. You will also be asked to reflect on your ‘Learning to Learning’ skills every lesson.

7 Every lesson, your teacher will…
Provide opportunities for you to mark your own work, so you can see how you’re doing all the time. It also means you can move onto the next mountain, or go back to the previous one. In you classroom, you will see a ‘Marking Station’, where you can find the answers. When you know, you can find out where you went wrong and fix it straight away.

8 Don’t wait and be passive – push yourself!
What do YOU need to do? Be INDEPENDENT! Don’t be a passive learner. When you come into a lesson, look for where your name is. If you’re climbing Scafell Pike, you’ll be working with the teacher. If you’re climbing Ben Nevis, Mont Blanc or Everest, you will be working independently. Check your own work regularly and move on if you can or back if you need to. When your teachers tell you how to climb the mountain, write it in your book using the correct label. Don’t wait and be passive – push yourself!
