Bb-BK Rootbeer Stand BK Rootbeer stand offers the city of Piqua a variety of fast food options. Most famously known for their “spanish” hotdogs and homemade rootbeer.

Cc-Cannon The cannon is located at the Johnston’s farm in Piqua, Ohio. The cannon was used during the Civil War and later got moved to the farm after the war was over.

Dd-Dinosaur Piqua has over 20 parks that the city oversees. Each park offers the residents a variety of options. There is a dog park, parks that offer recreational activities like hiking, tennis, basketball, etc. Most of the parks offer equipment for children to use.

Ee-Edison Edison State Community College was founded in Approximately 4,000 students that attend the small campus. There are over 30 associate degrees and one year certificates that Edison offers.

Ff-Football Stadium The Piqua Alexander Stadium was built in 2013 and can hold up to 8,200 people. The track around the football field is used during the spring for track invitational. However, the stadium really comes alive for Friday night lights during football season. Listen to the Piqua fight song!

Gg-Gazebo The gazebo located in the heart of downtown Piqua, Ohio offers residents free entertainment during the summer months. It can also be reserved at no charge for residents of Piqua.

Hh-Historical Marker Arthur Davis was the first African American to settle in Piqua, Ohio prior to In 1847, a wealthy Virginian man named John Randolph passed away and gave all of his slaves their freedom. They all ended up settling in Piqua.

Ii-Indian The Adena and Hopewell cultures occupied the area which is now called Piqua, Ohio. The cultures built earthworks and burial bounds around Miami County. To learn more about the different cultures that called Piqua their home, click on the link.

Jj-Johnston Farm John Johnston came to Piqua at the age of 16 to trade and transport supplies. When war broke out in 1812, the government needed a candidate that had experience with Indians and soldiers to act as their agent. Johnston was selected as the candidate. Kk-Kroger Kroger has been around since The original Kroger has been demolished, but recently a new Kroger was built to serve the residents of Piqua. Kroger offers deli and bakery goods, as well as, health and beauty supplies.

Ll-Library A library was finally created in when Jacob Schmidlapp donated his family’s store and home. The library has since moved to the Fort Piqua Plaza building in The building houses reception rooms, as well as, a coffee shop called Winans.

Mm-Marching Band The marching band in Piqua was formed in 1916 by H.O. Ferguson. Currently there are over 100 band members. The marching band recently scored an excellent rating in the OMEA state competition.

Nn-Newspaper The Piqua Daily Call was established in It is published daily, except on Tuesdays and Sundays, to the residents of Piqua who are subscribers. The paper mainly focuses on local news.

Oo-Post Office By the year 1823, the city of Piqua had formed a city government, several mills, and a post office. The post office is now located in downtown Piqua. All residents that live in town must come to the post office to retrieve their mail.

Pp-Police The police officers serve the residents of Piqua with integrity, strength, dedication, and accountability. Piqua Police department has a unique patch that was adopted in 1992 that is shown to the right.

Qu-Quilt Many quilts are painted on farm barns located in the Miami County area. When driving around the country side of Piqua, residents will see many vibrant print patterns that show when Miami County was established.

Rr-River The Great Miami River runs right through Piqua, Ohio. The river flows for approximately 160 miles. Many residents of Piqua enjoy walking the trail next to the river.

Ss-Sunset Meats Sunset Meat market provides the residents of Piqua with fresh cut meats. The market also has a wide variety of deli and bakery products. Most of their deli and bakery products are homemade.

Tt-Tractor There are many tractors that use both the country roads and city roads of Piqua, Ohio. Most of the land outside of town is devoted to farm land. Many crops you would see driving around the country would be soy beans, corn, and wheat.

Uu-Unity Bank Unity National Bank is one of the many banks located in Piqua, Ohio. Unity has been serving residents of the Miami County area for over 125 years now.

Vv-Veterans The city of Piqua has a 2 acre park honoring Veterans who served the country. The Veteran’s Park is one of the twenty parks located in Piqua, Ohio.

Ww-Water tower Piqua currently has two water towers located in town. The city has plans to build another water tower for 4.4 million dollars. The new water tower will be located on Fox Drive.

Xx-X-ray Piqua use to have a hospital called Piqua Memorial Medical Center. The hospital has since been demolished and the new Piqua Central Intermediate School currently stands where the hospital once was. Click on the link below to see more pictures of the old hospital. ffsys/sets/ /

Yy-Y.M.C.A The Y.M.C.A offers families and friends many different recreational activities to enjoy. The Y.M.C.A has a basketball gym, running track, volleyball courts, fitness center, and swimming pool.
