1 Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training
Start: 9:00 a.m. Break: 10:15 a.m. End 12:00 p.m.

2 Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Training Objectives
Exporting Data from Analysis Tools Creating a New Workspace from scratch Adding GIS Layers to the Workspace Creating ‘Search Profiles’ Starter Maps and GIS Images Customization of the EFS Interface Wrap Up & Getting Help

3 Steps to Create Shapefile Datasets
Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Exporting Data from Analysis Tools The ‘Image Analysis’ tools can create shapefiles Distance tool will create polyline features Area tool will create polygon features Location tool will create point features Steps to Create Shapefile Datasets Select the appropriate tool for desired shapefile type (i.e. point, line, or polygon) Modify tool properties by selecting ‘Tools’ dropdown and select ‘Properties’ Under the ‘Export Data’ tab, check the ‘Export Data’ option box Change ‘Export Format’ to ‘shapefile’ and specify save location under ‘Settings’ Select ‘User’ as the ‘Template Source’ and configure new attribute table under ‘Settings’ Specify desired output coordinate system and click OK Create your shapefile by using the analysis tool and inputting relevant data End the process by returning to tool properties and uncheck the ‘Export Data’ option

4 Close any open workspace File->New Workspace
Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Creating a New Workspace from Scratch Close any open workspace File->New Workspace Load Base Map dialog box presented Select your warehouse where desired map resides Warehouse Base Map dialog box presented Select your map from the list New Workspace has been created Save Workspace with a filename you choose

5 Phase 1: Sourcing and Projecting your data
Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Adding a GIS Layer to the Workspace Phase 1: Sourcing and Projecting your data Source the SDE table or Shapefile from a central location Set the Coordinate System

6 Phase 2: Set the Data Properties
Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Adding a GIS Layer to the Workspace Phase 2: Set the Data Properties Set Object Attributes (color, fill shading) Set the Drawing Attributes Verify the Coordinate System Set display name for the layer

7 Phase 3: Configure GIS Object Query Display
Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Adding a GIS Layer to the Workspace Phase 3: Configure GIS Object Query Display Set your Query Display Field from the Attribute Table You can also create a custom field for display

8 Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Query Execute Field
You can access an executable hyperlink via a field in your layer’s attribute table Select your executable attribute field under ‘Query Execute Field’ Your users can execute this command by holding ‘E’ on their keyboard and querying a feature

9 Phase 4: Configure Auto Label Settings
Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Adding a GIS Layer to the Workspace Phase 4: Configure Auto Label Settings Turn on Auto Labeling (if desired) Set label source from Attribute Table Specify Label Attributes (font, color, etc.)

10 Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Creating Search Profiles
Not part of Workspace Go to: Navigate –> ‘Address Search Setup’ OR ‘GIS Search Setup’ ‘Address Search Setup’ is for addressing data ‘GIS Search Setup’ is for all other search data criteria

11 Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Address Search Setup
Double-click on appropriate database field Only ‘Number’ and ‘Street Name’ are searchable ‘Number’ = House Number & ‘Street Name’ = Street name field

12 Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training GIS Search Setup
Double-click on appropriate database field Only ‘Numeric’ and ‘Alpha-num’ are searchable ‘Numeric’ = Numeric data & ‘Alpha-num’ = Alphanumeric data

13 OR Custom Basemaps can be created from two sources:
Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Starter Maps & GIS Images Custom Basemaps can be created from two sources: Existing .JPEG image with associated world file (.JGW) From GIS layers already added to EFS workspace OR

14 Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Starter Maps & GIS Images
Existing .JPGs with world files (.jgw) can be added to EFS Export .JPG (with associated world file) to ‘Maps and GIS’ folder. Select ‘Add Orthogonal Image’ under ‘Workspace’ dropdown in EFS Change ‘Files of type’ to ‘All Files’ and locate your desired basemap ‘.JPG’ Double click ‘.JPG’ and EFS will load associated worldfile .PMI file (Pictometry Map Image) will automatically be created in the same directory and added to EFS workspace You may need to try several DPI values when exporting your initial JPG for optimal performance in EFS

15 Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Starter Maps & GIS Images
GIS layers in your EFS workspace can be turned into a basemap Select ‘Create New GIS Image’ under ‘Workspace’ dropdown in EFS Select the GIS layers to be included in your new GIS basemap image Note: GIS layers to be included in your basemap must be visible at a countywide scale This can be configured with the GIS layer properties ‘Drawing Attributes’ Set an initial zoom level (GSD), set a background color and basemap name and select ‘OK”

16 Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Customization of the EFS Interface
Via the Tools – Customize Tools -> Customize -> Config’s Tab Allows you to save, load and switch between ‘Layouts’ EFS 2.7 Configuration Editor Does the above, plus a LOT more! See the ‘Configuration Editor 2.0 Guide’ Saves Layout, Tool Configurations, EFS configurations Can be applied automatically during ‘setup.exe’ of EFS

17 Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training EFS Updates
Either done ‘Manually’ or via ‘Updater’ Manually Help Pull-down Menu -> Pictometry on the Web Online Updates If the computer is connected to the Internet, this will bring the user to our site where they can access any updates that are available. ‘Product Support’ tab ‘Tech Updates’ Sign-up to receive s with our product updates (Recommended Method) Updater Updater is installed when EFS is installed Will automatically check to see if updates are available The Updater is NOT the recommended method

18 Electronic Field Study Advanced User Training Training Objectives
