2. Conventions
The conventions my group challenged in our opening scene were the Rule of Thirds, Dramatic Irony, and Isolation.
In most great horror films, directors used the Rule of Thirds and Framing to give focus on a certain subject. In our case we used it to make the killer visible to the audience and reveal that the victim is oblivious to the killer in her Window.
To add to the suspense of our film, we used Dramatic Irony to make sure viewers could tell that the detective is actually the killer.
Isolation is used in films such as Scream and Zodiac, is used to add suspense and make the victim feel helpless. We incorporated this when the victim got stabbed in her skull.

3. Social Groups
“The Detective” represents both teenage girls and the issue of corrupt police officers in society today
Teenage girls are typically victims when they’re isolated. When isolated females are vulnerable, easy to take advantage of, and in my film’s case, could be murdered. Multiple cases of rape occur because a young girl is al by themselves.
The acts of corrupt police officers has gained controversy through the years in America. These acts has caused protests both peaceful and violent . By having our detective being the actual killer it represents this social issue today.

4. Target Audience “The Detective” could attract teens and adults.
Teens and adults would be interested because the film is overall realistic and portrays the fact that the person you’re closest too, even a coworker, could be living a double life.
Since the plot twist of the movie is revealed in the opening scene, people would want to dive into the brain and life of someone who’s on both sides on the law.

5. Distribution
My group’s film would be distributed as an original film on Netflix.
By it being only on Netflix, our movie will have an immediate demographic. It will be marketed all over Netflix also.

6. Production Skills
For this project, my production skills improved immensely. I learned the specifics needed for certain such as camera positioning and lighting.
The biggest thing that improved was my usage of effects. From observing, my partner Will edit, I can use the effects more smoothly now. From our rough draft there was a certain scene we had to make smooth and Will used numerous effects to make it look better.

7. Technologies
For the opening scene, we used multiple tripods and a handheld camera. For editing we used Adobe Premiere Pro, and to get our scores onto the editing program we used an mp3 converter. To provide the links to “The Detective” we posted it on YouTube.
