1 PREM Annual Reporting “These guidelines were developed to provide a uniform reporting structure for the Partnerships in Research and Education in Materials (PREM) annual reports and to provide the NSF with useful data to monitor the health and success of the program. As such, we ask that you focus on the development of students and new opportunities afforded to both students and faculty.”

4 Data Tables in PREM Annual Report
A significant fraction of what NSF reports on PREM is the effectiveness of this strategy on broadening participation. Substantial time reconciling the tables with the lists! Lists of Current PREM Participants Yearly record of faculty and students involved in the PREM Consists of list and a summary table for reconciliation Tables of PREM Graduates - Cumulative Table of Undergraduates who have graduated from PREM - Cumulative table of Graduate students who have graduated from PREM Cumulative Table of Post-docs who have graduated from PREM - Diversity Statistics for those students and post-docs that have graduated during the - Current Reporting Period. - Cumulative Diversity Statistics for students and post-docs that have graduated from the PREM. Actual tables that make up the cumulative tables presented on the program. Should be consistent with the cumulative tables

5 Discussing Results in PREM Annual Report
NSF wants to know the motivation and the key findings of your work – not the details of the experiments conducted. Why was this work important? NSF wants to hear about the key contributions of the team, which includes the partner. 1. Executive Summary Vision statement (1-2 sentences) Key Accomplishments achieved during this reporting period in terms of A) Intellectual Merit B) Broader Impacts Building and Sustaining the Pipeline: PREM’s response to any site visit and external advisory committee recommendations. Long-range plans, change in priorities or key personnel, new scientific or outreach directions Research Accomplishments and Plans Discuss the results of ongoing research projects. Organize the projects under the major tasks or research thrusts originally proposed. Include: - a statement of the objective of the research project - the names of the faculty and students involved in each project - a description of the role of the partner institution - a description of the research performed and the most significant results obtained - research plans for the coming year.
