1 Bell Work: Motion of a Car
What instrument in your car measures time? distance? speed? direction? velocity? (there are 2 of these) What part in your car holds the speed constant? What part of your car changes the direction?

2 Position Time Graphs Steeper line means faster speed
Straight line means constant speed (cruise control) Straight line can also show average speed Horizontal line means no speed Slope represents the speed or velocity of the object. a: high velocity- moving fast- high displacement b: no (0) velocity- not moving- no displacement c: low velocity- moving slow- low displacement d: negative slope – negative velocity – moving backwards

3 A: Slope decreasing – slowing down – negative acceleration
curved line means acceleration is occurring A: Slope decreasing – slowing down – negative acceleration B: Slope increasing – speeding up – positive acceleration C: speeding up then slowing down

4 Today: TYPO IN QUESTIONS 4 AND 5: (the equation is upside down!)
Finish and turn in position time graphs practice (due by the beginning of class tomorrow). Work on completing the calculations portion of the lab. TYPO IN QUESTIONS 4 AND 5: (the equation is upside down!) It should read: v= 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑒 𝑎𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑔𝑒 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑟𝑒 𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑒 LT: Finish literacy paragraph Which game could you win? Why? Include some physics in your answer. Topic sentence, back it up with 3+ facts, summarize in a closing sentence.
