1 Poles devoted to peace

2 Lech wałęsa Born in Popowo. He’s a Polish politician, although he is an electrician by profession. In years he was the President of Poland. He’s a laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize. He supported the fight against communism in Poland. He is the founder of the Polish labour union „Solidarność” (Solidarity).

3 Józef Rotblat He was a Polish physicist and radiobiologist of Jewish origin. He was born in Warsaw and died in London. He earned a Nobel Peace Prize. He was a co- founder and leader of the pacifistic organization Pugwash and a co-creator of the first atom bomb. He considered himself a „Pole with a British passport” and spoke Polish fluently.

4 Rafał lemkin Rafał Lemkin – he lived between – He was a Polish and American lawyer of Jewish origin. Creator of the concept “genocide” and a convention project in support of prevention and punishment of the crime of genocide, signed on 9th December, called the “Lemkin convention”.

5 Jan karski He lived between 1914 – He was a citizen of Poland and United States, lawyer and diplomat, historian, academic lecturer and professor at Gorgetown University. In Karski provided information about the extermination of Jews to Western allies. He personally delivered and detailed reports and as an eyewitness, he appealed to the British Foreign Minister Anthony Eden, to the representatives of the British media and establishment to take up actions to stop the Holocaust.

6 Szimon peres (born as Szymon Perski). He came from a family of Polish Jews. He lived in He was an Israeli politician, president of Israel and twice Prime Minister of Israel. In 1994, together with the Prime Minister of Israel Icchak Rabin and the leader of the Palestinians Jasir Arafat, he won the Nobel Peace Prize. He was awarded for his peace talks, which he led as a Foreign Minister, which resulted in so-called „Oslo Agreements”.

7 Ryszard kukliński Born on in Warsaw, died in Tampa. A colonel of Polish People’s Army, promoted to the rank of brigadier general after death, deputy head of the Operational Board of the General Staff of the Polish Army, CIA agent since Revealing the plans to Americans, he stopped a potential invasion of the Russian Army on the West, in which- as a result- Poland would be destroyed. He arouses controversy and is viewed both as a hero and a traitor.
