2 What is body image? Body image is how you see yourself, what you believe about your own appearance (including your memories, assumptions, and generalizations), how you feel about your body, including your weight, shape and height, and also how you sense and control your body as you move.

3 What do you see when you look in the mirror?
Do you see you for you or do you see something else? All the flaws that you think you have or do you see the person that you want to be?

4 Did you know? The average “female mannequin is 6 feet tall and has a 23-inch waist, whereas the average woman is 5 feet 4 inches tall and has a 30 inch waist.

5 Unrealistic images are not uncommon in the media
Most men and women in the media and in advertisements are seemed to be perfect and flawless. Although styles and what is modern often changes every generation, the same approach is taken with the best looking models. Most men are betrayed as burly and women petite.

6 Steps to maintaining a positive body image:
St 1: Appreciate all that your body can do. St 2: Keep a list of things you like about yourself St 3: Remind yourself that true beauty is not simply skin deep. St 4: Look at yourself as a whole person. St 5: Surround yourself with positive people St 6: Shut down those voices in your head that tell you your body is not “right” or that you are a “bad person”

7 ……… St 7: Wear clothes that are comfortable and that make you feel good about your body. St 8: Become a critical viewer of social and media messages. St 9: Do something nice for yourself St 10: Use the time and energy that you might have spent worrying about food, calories, and your weight to do something to help others.
