Blending multiple layers

Open an image in Photoshop that you would like to fade into another.

Layer New fill layer Gradient

Click OK

A “Gradient Scale” is now applied to your image.

On the drop down menu, choose the gradient that fades from the image to white.

The intensity of the fade can be manipulated using “Scale”.

For each “Style”, you can choose the direction of the fade using the “Angle” setting.

Changing the “Style” will give different effects

Many “Styles” work well when reversed.

In order to apply the gradient to the layer, goto:
Merge Down.

Multilayer Refresher:
Open the two images that you would like to merge together.

Use the “Move Tool” to drag one image over the other.

Edit Transform in order to change the size, rotation, ect. of the layer.

Once the images have been lined up, use the fade as a guide to erase the top layer

While erasing, if you change the opacity the fade is more subtle.

When taking specific pieces of other images, use the quick selection tool, and then the move tool.

In order to make individual layers transparent, highlight that layer and change the opacity.

Save your final image as a jpeg.

Lastname.4th.inspired Inside this folder you must turn in the following: final.jpg final.psd 1 folder containing the photos you took for this project (at least 4). Name this folder “Photos”. 1 folder containing any other images you used in making this image. Name this folder “Found”.
