Of Mice and Men is a book by John Steinbeck. This book was also made into a movie, in which Gary Sinise directed. It is a story about two friends who get into a lot of trouble a lot because of one of the boys’ mental problems. Also, to fulfill their dreams. They want to own a farm one day and they are just working towards it. All they can do is run, or else they would be killed. The setting is very important in this because the place where they are is possibly the most important part of the story. They are constantly running away to a new place to stay until something bad happens again, and it will. I think the book did a better job at portraying the setting.

It explained how important the setting was to the story. There were changes in the book and the movie. In the book, there was a part when Lennie, Crooks, Candy, and Curly’s wife have an argument. It was very important in the book and they didn’t put it into the movie at all. At the end of the movie, in the book, Lennie hallucinates his Aunt Clara yelling at him, but it doesn’t happen in the movie. The director, who was played by George, might have made that happen to add less complications to the movie.
