1 Warm-up October 11, 2017 1.) Use the distributive property and then simplify: 9(4R + 7B) – 23B – 12R + 2R 2.) Write an expression for “3 times a number b plus 10”. 3.) Write an expression for “8 less than 10 times a number q”. 4.) Combine like terms (simplify): 3m + 8t + 4g – m – 6t - 5 C

2 Vocabulary Quiz Write your name on the quiz
Circle your answer AND write the capital letter of your answer in the space provided READ pages 251 thru 254 when you finish. Complete questions 1 – 4 in the Guided Practice section on page 254.

3 One-Step equations Identify the variable
Figure out what operation is being done to the variable (+, -, X, or ÷ ) Perform the opposite operation on BOTH sides of the equation (Properties of Equality) – remember the operation has a number with it T + 5 = operation is “ADDING 5” T + 5 – 5 = 15 – 5 so T = 10

4 Two-step equations Label variable
Label constant side of equation – usually the other side of the = sign Move the piece that is NOT labeled – do the opposite/inverse operation Re-write as a one-step equation Undo what’s being done to the variable – do the opposite/inverse operation

5 Class work Pages 255 and 256 Problems 1 – 6 and 13 Pages 265 and 266
