2 Hate crime is a crime that someone does to someone else because of their disability, the colour of their skin, their language, their religion or sexuality. Hate crime happens when we treat someone who is different in a bad way and in a way we would not like to be treated ourselves. Definition of a hate crime – it is how YOU, the victim, perceive it

Tom Daley – Olympic diver, received a deluge of homophobic tweets since revealing he was gay - sexual orientation hate crime Danny Welbeck who plays for Arsenal and England has been the subject of 1,700 discriminatory posts on social media.- racial hate crime Caitlyn Jenner (Bruce Jenner) – World Olympic champion for the decathlon, then went onto a television and film career and appeared in numerous reality shows, more recently “Keeping up with the Kardashians - transgender hate crime Sophie Lancaster –Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend, Robert Maltby, were attacked by a number of males in their mid-teens while walking through Stubbylee Park in Lancashire. As a result of her severe head injuries she went into a coma, never regained consciousness and died thirteen days later. Maltby's injuries left him in a coma with bleeding on the brain. He gradually recovered, but was left with lasting brain damage.
