Hate crime happens when we treat someone who is different in a bad way and in a way we would not like to be treated ourselves.

Sophie Lancaster –Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend, Robert Maltby, were attacked by a number of males in their mid-teens while walking through Stubbylee Park in Lancashire. As a result of her severe head injuries she went into a coma, never regained consciousness and died thirteen days later. Maltby's injuries left him in a coma with bleeding on the brain. He gradually recovered, but was left with lasting brain damage. They were attacked and beaten for the way they dressed, both were goths – or "moshers“
