1. Requirements for each slide:
Every slide must have the following elements:
Headline – Creatively come up with your own headline for the story
Picture – Use Google images to find a picture of your story
Category – Use the “What is News?” handout to assign a story category
Who – this is who this story is about (individual, group, country, etc…?)
What – this should be a summary of what the story is… this is typically the longest section (no less than 5 sentences)
When – this should be the date this was covered on CNN Student News (not the date the event actually occurred)
Where – this is where the event took place (city, state, country?)
Why – this is an explanation of why this story is newsworthy and important to everyone

2. “U.S Military Moves Forward, Women’s Role Changes”
Who: US Military, Troops
What: The US military is moving forward, creating 14,000 jobs for female troops. Women are expected to be taking on roles closer to the front lines.
When: 2012
Where: Afghanistan
Why: It is believed now that women should be able to serve closer to the front line. This change is progress for women in America, as they achieve steps toward equal rights. Some people disagree with the actions to move women close to front line combat roles.
