5 Accessing EDS Educators new to EDS will select
‘Create an Account’ from the EDS log in screen. Creating an EDS Account All educators in the state of Washington have an EDS account that is created by the E-Certification system. If the educator has not accessed EDS, the accounts are visible but inactive, which means that they are unable to be edited by District Security Mangers. New users need to claim their accounts. Each EDS user should have just one EDS account – the username and address should be updated when the EDS account holder moves from one district/organization to another. For additional information please refer to the EDS webpage of OSPI’s website:

6 Accessing EDS Click ‘View my applications’.
After an account has been claimed and the user has logged on to EDS, they will select VIEW MY APPLICATIONS from the options in the green box.

7 Accessing the Application
Select ‘Learning Assistance Program’ If the application is not appearing on your application list, you will need to contact your District Security Manager. When you contact your District Security Manager, you will ask for the ‘LAP User Role’. The application is called Learning Assistance Program. If the application is not appearing on your application list, you will need to contact your District Security Manager. If you select the green ‘District Security Manager’ link, you will be taken to a list of all the security managers in the state.

District Security Managers distribute account access for all individuals within their district. The addition of a role to a user’s account can only be performed by an authorized District Security Manager-not by OSPI. When you contact your District Security Manager, you will ask for the ‘LAP User Role’.

9 Accessing the Application
Select ‘Learning Assistance Program’ After you are given access, you will find the Learning Assistance Program on your application list.

10 Accessing the Application
Select your organization and press After receiving access and selecting the LAP Application, you will be asked to select your organization. The organizations that appear on the drop down menu depend on access levels. There are two levels of access in EDS: school level access and district level access. School level access only permits users access to a specific school. District level access allows users to access all schools within their district.

11 LAP application home page
After the user selects their organization, they will be brought to home tab of the application. This is a screen shot of the home tab. From here, users can access all tabs for data entry and report building.
