2 Important Supreme Court Case
Marbury Versus Madison: In 1803, this case gave the supreme court the ability to review court rulings and laws to determine if it goes against the constitution. Dred Scott v. Sandford: In 1857, the supreme court ruled that slaves of the southern states would not gain freedom if they went to northern States. Brown v. Board of Education: In 1896, the supreme court determined that ruling of plessy vs ferguson (created the Jim Crow Laws) which created racial segregation through the policy of “separate but equal” as going against the constitution. Roe v. Wade: In 1973, the supreme court decided that restrictions to abortions by states as unconstitutional. Obergefell v. Hodges: In 2015, this supreme court ruling stated that states must allow people of same-sex to marry.
