1 The Future of Scrutiny Karen Fraser Team Manager Adult Services

2 Our vision A vision without a plan is just a dream
A plan without a vision is just drudgery But a vision with a plan can change the world

3 It’s our job to… Provide assurance and protection for people who use services, their families and carers and the wider public Play a key part in improving services for adults and children across Scotland Act as a catalyst for change and innovation Promote good practice

4 What we do Inspection assures people that things are working well and shows what needs to improve. We carry out thousands of inspections every year of regulated care services used by people of all ages With partner bodies, we carry out joint inspections of children’s and adult services on a strategic basis

5 So what’s changing? No longer about compliance
Designed to evidence the impact that care has on people’s lives and individual experiences. Based on outcomes New inspection report styling

6 Why make changes? Targeting our efforts
More ownership of improvement by services Implementation of new Health and Social Care standards

8 Voice of the service user
“I receive” or “I experience”? “I am listened to” or “I am understood” “My views are taken into account” or “I decide”? “I am involved” or “I control”? “I am treated with respect” or “I am respected”
