2 Weariness Weary – being extremely tired or fatigued, exhausted – physical or mental We must address this or it can cause great damage: Accidents at work & home We break things Inferior work Negative moods WEARINESS

3 Neglect our responsibilities Do inferior work
Weariness Spiritually: We let down our guard Neglect our responsibilities Do inferior work Give up or quit (in certain areas) WEARINESS

4 Weariness in the New Testament κάμητε, (kamēte) – to be fatigued
Hebrews 12:3 – consider Him, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls Revelation 2:3 - have not become weary WEARINESS

κοπιάω, (kopiaō) – to tire, (from labor) John 4:6 – Jesus was wearied from His journey WEARINESS

Isaiah 40:28-30 – the Creator neither faints nor is weary… those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength… run and not be weary Malachi 2:17, Isaiah 43: the LORD is wearied (He has tolerated enough!) WEARINESS

Ungodly attitudes and actions – weary godly leaders, those struggling and the weak Ingratitude as we receive from God and others Indifference – we don’t care whether God is pleased OR about our brethren WEARINESS

Causes of weariness Am I guilty of causing my brethren to be weary? No help as we do the Lord’s work (cf. Galatians 6:5, 2) Opposition and constant criticism (Galatians 5:15, Mark 9:42) Fatigue in doing the work Failure to see results WEARINESS

14 Dealing with weariness
Realize it is normal – Even Jesus grew weary (John 4:6). So did Paul Know its cause – is it something you should be controlling? Sinful struggles, procrastination WEARINESS

Rest – We need rest Jesus rested – Mark 6:31, Luke 9:10, Matthew 14:13. You need to rest or you will “burn out” Just get back to work! WEARINESS

Simplification – is that which is wearying you necessary? Are our lives filled with clutter and worldly distractions so that we don’t have time to rest John 2: Matthew 6:24 WEARINESS

17 Dealing with weariness
Draw closer to God – He does not wear out – Isaiah 40:28-30 Personal study – Romans 15:4, Philippians 4:8-9 Prayer – 1 Peter 5:7, James 5:16, Philippians 4:6-7 He knows – Revelation 2:2-3 Matthew 11:28-30 WEARINESS

Associate with others – Especially the godly Proverbs 27:17, 11:25 Romans 12:16 WEARINESS

Keep your eye on the end goal – Hebrews 12:3 Colossians 3: Corinthians 15:58 WEARINESS
