-Variations are caused by genetics and/or mutations (ie. LLOYD  FLOYD)

-Environmental factors change over time, and when they do, those changes can affect certain individuals or organisms more than others
-Variation within a species gives more chances for that species to adapt to change

-More chances for adaptation increases the probability that at least some of the species will be able to adapt to the new conditions
-Thus, some variations are more advantageous than others depending on the conditions

4. Variations
-Genetic diversity helps the survival of a species should the environment change significantly
-Sameness can mean vul­nerability that could lead to extinction
