Learning Target: Students will determine why authors use figurative language. Warm-up: Number One-Ten under your Learning Target.

3 Opening- Figurative Language Assessment.
Number one-ten in your journal. Read and answer the questions. Be Prepared to review your answers. Group Work: 9-10 Exceeds Standards 7-8 Meets Standards 6 or below DNM

4 Task- Figurative Language Work
Exceeded Standards- 1) Get on a computer/Ipad. 2) Find professional examples of the figurative language on the board. 3) Determine why the author uses it in the text. Met Standards- 1) Get a image. 2) Draw an arrow from the image. 3) Write your name. 4) Write type of figurative language. 5) Write an example of figurative language explaining the image. 6) Switch. DNM Standards- 1) Get a Ipad. 2)Get a figurative language chart. 3) Get a figurative language handout to complete.
