1 1st QALLL CONFERENCE VN NN Bled, March 23rd/24th 2011
on Quality Assurance in Lifelong Learning focussing on Vocational Education & Training and Adult Education VN NN Bled, March 23rd/24th 2011

2 QUALC background and goals
Partners identified the need of a quality assurance tool that promoted quality in adult learning. A large amount of adult learning occurs through non formal or informal learning rather than through formal learning. Seeing the lack of tools for assuring the quality of these forms of learning have lead to the formation of this project  The ambition of the project is to create a structure for quality assurance (QA) of these forms of adult learning.

3 The ALC can apply to the awarding body for the QUALC Certification
MAIN RESULTS OF QUALC From the QUALC Website adult learning centres are free to download any document needed for identifying, processing and developing the QUALC quality assurance approach The QUALC quality scheme is open to all ALCs that meet the minimum defined standards, ie eligibility criteria The ALC can apply to the awarding body for the QUALC Certification A network of ALCs has been created in the participating countries 1st QALLL Conference . 5 Lessons learnt : your starting point should be – how to design an adult learning centre that provides the student and the community optimal effect for invested time and money?? Create a flexible quality assurance tool that can be used in the way the ALC find relevant. Challenges: Some ALCs can be hard to engage in piloting activities ALCs may look very different in European countries Difficult to present figures showing the economical gain of having a quality assurance system. Teachers, headmasters may find it a waste of time working with QA
