OUR SOLAR SYSTEM A solar system is a group of objects in space that orbit the sun in the center. A planet is a large object that orbits the star.

SUN The sun is the largest object in our solar system.
It include all of the planets (including Pluto) that orbit the sun.

Mercury Mercury is almost the size as Earth’s moon.
Mercury is the closest plant to the sun. It is still 58 million kilometers from the sun.

Venus Venus and Earth are about the same size.
Venus is the 2nd planet from the sun .

Earth Earth is the 3rd planet from the sun.
Earth is also the only planet that people can live on so far. People can only live on Earth because it has oxygen.

Mars Mars is called the red planet because it looks fiery red from Earth It has huge dust storms that can last for months.

Astroid Belt The asteroid belt separates the inner planets and the outer planets. The asteroid belt is all rocks bloating in space .

Jupiter Jupiter is the LARGEST planet in our Solar System.
Jupiter has at least 63 moons.

Saturn Saturn has at least 31 moons.
It is the 6th planet from the sun.

Uranus Uranus is a gas planet.
Uranus rotates on its side while it orbits the sun.

Neptune Neptune is one of the windiest places in our Solar System.
Neptune has at least 13 moons.

Pluto is one of the Dwarf Planets. There are five (5) dwarf planets.
