PROBLEM: Books are publicly available to people for free in a library, but there is no digital public library.
APPROACH: Develop a system to check out and check in books, search a digital “card catalog”, and perhaps even buy e-books. Another thing that needs to be considered is a Digital Rights Management system.
IMPACT: A comprehensive public digital library would allow people from all over the world to have access to books of all kinds, even if they cannot physically go to a library. Also there are many advantages of having books in a digital format.
