9. In Leviticus, the sacrificial system was a multisensory reminder of the reality and wages of sin. Sinners seeking restoration with God would hear the cry of the slaughtered animal, see the crimson stain, feel the slip and stick of blood, and smell the burning sacrifice. There was no getting around the seriousness of breaking God’s law, even unintentionally.
