3 Transitional Kindergarten is…
for students who turn 5 between September 2 – December 2, 2017. a 2-year program; TK – year 1, Kindergarten – year 2. a full day from 8:25 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. NOT preschool! a program where students will learn socialization and be exposed to the alphabet, numbers, shapes, and the school environment.

4 TK and Kindergarteners must:
possess fine and gross motor skills. be potty-trained and able to zip/button their pants. be able to put on their shoes. feed themselves. be able to sit quietly and listen to stories. follow directions. be responsible. be able to keep their hands to themselves.

5 Kinder Academic Expectations
*Kinder students must be 5 on or before September 1, 2017* Common Core State Standards: English/Language Arts Sight Words (88 words) Mathematics Science Social Studies P.E. *Homework will be sent home daily.

6 Kinder Academic Year 4 Quarterly Report Cards
Parent Conference for First Quarter Conferences as needed throughout the year

8 Every Day At School Counts
Gates open at 7:30 a.m. School begins at 8:25 a.m. Tardy Bell 8:30 a.m. Dismissal at 2:10 p.m. Your child must be picked up at 2:10 p.m. 4 tardies=lunch detention Success starts here with you!

9 Spring Fling You are invited to visit our kinder classrooms.
Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

10 Let’s Get Ready for Kinder this Summer!
practice writing your first name work on colors and shapes recognize and count to 20 kinder words (sight words) visit the public library/read short intervals

11 Meet the Teacher Friday, August 18, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m.
Please bring your child. Expect letter in the mail.

12 The first day of school will be August 21, 2017.

13 English Learners CELDT TESTING
Any student who’s primary language is one other than English. Complete Home Language Survey CELDT TESTING -To determine a students English Language Development -CELDT test appointments will be scheduled via phone two weeks prior to the first day of school.
