2 Paul’s Life Paul Cézanne was a French artist and Post-Impressionist painter whose work laid the foundations of the transition from the 19th-century conception of artistic endeavor to a new and radically different world of art in the 20th century.

3 Birth and Death Paul Cézanne was born on January 19, 1839
He died on October 22, 1906

4 Nationality Paul Cézanne was born in Aix-en-Provence, France, and spent his some of his life in Paris, though he eventually died in Aix-en-Provence

5 Education In 1857 he began attending the Free Municipal School of Drawing in Aix, where he studied drawing under Joseph Gibert, a Spanish monk. From 1858 to 1861, complying with his father's wishes, Cézanne attended the law school of the University of Aix, while also receiving drawing lessons.

6 Where Cézanne lived Cézanne lived in Aix-en-Provence, and for a time in Paris, but eventually returned to Aix-en-Provence

7 Where his career began, and why
Paul sought out his career in art in 1861 in Paris, he had long before had a passion for being an artist. It could be argued his career began when he went to the Free Municipal School of Drawing in Aix.

8 Influences on his Work Paul Cézanne had many influences on his work, including: a working relationship with Camille Pissaro a long lasting friendship with Émile Zola and Baptistin Baille a social ineptitude which depressed and frustrated him Financial and emotional support from his father

9 Cézanne’s career Cézanne was only ever a painter, having received financial support from his father, and never had to worry about finances after his father’s death in 1886 when he inherited 400,000 francs
