1 Source Cards and Note Cards:
How to effectively use PowerPoint to simplify the research process

2 Why use source cards? Source cards are a convenient way to keep up with sources from which you got info for your research paper. They will make doing the Works Cited page & in text citations much easier.

3 Source # MLA Citation (formatted correctly using Easy Bib)
Copy & paste link to Internet sources For hard copy cards – put URL on the card You will have one source card for EACH source, so you will have AT LEAST 5 Place Found (Internet, school library, etc.) In text citation

4 Source 1 Smith, Henry. “Worth behind the Mask of Oppression and Stereotypes: An Interpretation of Claude McKay’s ‘The Harlem Dancer.’” American Literature. (2006): 1-6. School Library (Smith 4-5)

5 Why use note cards? Note cards help you organize your information when writing the actual essay.

6 Source # Topic of Note Up to three bulleted notes of information per card Put direct quotes in quote marks You may color-code your note cards to match the topics of paragraphs where you will use this info. Since each body paragraph should have TWO cited sources, you will have AT LEAST 14 note cards (may use one source each in the background and opposing side paragraphs). Write page # and/or paragraph # if one exists (Write “No page #” if applicable)
