4 The Mysterious Stranger
You will be reading three selections from Twains final story, The Mysterious Stranger In this book, Twain weaves the story of three young friends in Austria who befriend – you guessed it – a mysterious stranger. This stranger turns out to have mystical powers, and he shows the boys the realities of the world as he sees them. You will be reading parts of chapters 2, 8 and 9, and identifying the satire therein. Your homework tonight is to read chapter 2 (page 1-6), answer the questions, and define the underlined vocabulary words
