1 “The Emoji’s of Jesus”

2 1. THE EMOTION OF ANGER

3 a. Anger is a GOD-GIVEN powerful emotion
Ephesians 4:26a - And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry…, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

4 b. Anger is a state of READINESS
Genesis 4:7 – You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.

5 c. Anger Always Finds Expression…
i. VENTILATION Romans 12:19 - Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord.

6 c. Anger Always Finds Expression…
ii. INTERNALIZATION Ephesians 4:26b-27 - Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry…, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

7 2. JESUS SHOWED THE EMOTION OF ANGER

8 a. JESUS WAS ANGRY WITH PRIDE

9 Mark 3:1-5 Jesus went into the synagogue again and noticed a man with a deformed hand. 2 Since it was the Sabbath, Jesus’ enemies watched him closely. If he healed the man’s hand, they planned to accuse him of working on the Sabbath. 3 Jesus said to the man with the deformed hand, “Come and stand in front of everyone.” 4 Then he turned to his critics and asked, “Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him. 5 He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored! 6 At once the Pharisees went away and met with the supporters of Herod to plot how to kill Jesus.

10 b. JESUS WAS ANGRY WITH APATHY

11 “Excuses are the nails used to build a house of failure!”
3. GET SERIOUS ABOUT UNHEALTHY ANGER “Excuses are the nails used to build a house of failure!”

12 a. Get More HELP Colossians 3:8 – But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.

13 If you are struggling with anger you need to deal with the FOUR R’S:
i. ROOT - Why are you angry? What is causing it? ii. RESOLVE - Do you need to express your anger (appropriately) and seek resolution and reconciliation? iii. RESPONSE - We have our part in dealing with our unhealthy anger and God has His part! iv. REFER – SOZO and/or a Christian Therapist

14 b. Get More GOD

15 Galatians 5:22-25 Proverbs 22:24-25
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Proverbs 22:24-25 Don’t befriend angry people or associate with hot-tempered people, 25 or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul.
