1 Student Government 2010-2011

2 What is Student Government? Student Government will give our student body the opportunity for better communication pertaining to issues and concerns that exist in our schools community.

3 Who is in Student Government? There is one representative from each English Class/Previous Student Government Members are welcome.

4 What is my role in Student Government? As a representative, you will summarize our meetings and report this information to your English class. You will also gather suggestions and ideas from your English Class/school discussions and bring them to our meetings.

5 Requirements What to do…. Student Government Website – Wednesday following the meeting and print meeting summary Share this with your classmates. Record all ideas and suggestions (return them prior to the next scheduled meeting).

6 Requirements What not to do…….. Detention/suspension Academic eligibility (failing 2 classes) You are not reporting meeting summaries to your class.

7 Library Student were not permitted to use laptops unless all of the desktops were occupied Signing out computers takes too long Students were not allowed to go to library after school without a pass Library Students have a choice to use a laptop or desktop More sign out sheets which makes the process faster Students can go to the library after school without a pass as long as they are there by 2:40 (the library will issue bus passes if needed) Cafeteria Limited beverage choice in vending machines Cafeteria New vending machines with healthy choices

8 Girls Bathrooms Two bathrooms did not have mirrors Girls Bathrooms All bathrooms have mirrors Courtyard (cafeteria) Students are not allowed to use the courtyard unless they are seniors Students are not allowed on the grass. Courtyard (cafeteria) All students are allowed to go out in the courtyard Students are allowed to go on the grass.

9 2009-2010 Last year we continued recognizing students who made a difference. Student of the month (Academics, Athletics, Citizenship and Fine Arts). Students of the month (students who made a difference were nominated by their classroom teacher) were awarded for different categories. Activity of the Month A school wide treat activity was planned for each holiday. Other Spring flowers were planted in the courtyard. We will continue to beautify the courtyards. Patio furniture was purchased for the cafeteria courtyard
