2 What do you know about WWII?
Your collaborative group will create a GROUP mind map showing your knowledge of WWII. Rules of engagement: You MUST REMAIN SILENT Create your own subtopics/headings or branch off of your peer’s You may use illustrations instead of text, but captions should be used to verify meaning You will be given FIVE minutes After FIVE minutes, you will then rotate clockwise to the next group’s mind map. You will be given THREE minutes to review each map and add additional information. YOU MUST REMAIN SILENT throughout the activity.

4 FDR and the Lend-Lease Act
Read the short article and answer the following questions: How did the Lend-lease act allow America to contribute to the war effort without entering into war? What did America benefit from this agreement? Why was it necessary for America to “buy” additional time? Discussion Questions According to the video: Why did Americans not want to be involved in the war? What was one of FDR’s first steps in preparing America for the impeding war? What evidence was provided that America desperately need the time provided by the Lend-Lease Act? How did the American people’s attitude toward war change?

Date: December 7th, 1941 Impacts: 21 U.S. ships are sunk or destroyed  188 aircrafts destroyed  2,403 people killed Declaration of war:  4 days after the attacks on Pearl Harbor, Germany and Italy declared war on the U.S.  First time and only time Hitler declares war How did this change the American peoples’ opinion about the war? Spreads panic through the American people Patriotism and outrage emerges 134,000 young men enlist to fight the enemy FDR is know for his powerful speeches. Listen to his address to the American people regarding Pearl Harbor.
