2. Process for Curriculum Development
Grade level teams developed framework from Tennessee State Standard revisions
All schools were represented
Maps focus more heavily on standards on the front end of the curriculum
This allows for recursive instruction

3. Instructional Maps Overview
Instructional maps are REQUIRED to be followed in Bedford County Schools
These instructional maps…
…are standards-based.
…are NOT driven by any text or program.
…have a balance of informational and fiction texts for ELA.
…have some resource suggestions.

4. Instructional Texts
Text selection should be based on grade level Lexile bands and reader and purpose.
Texts should be aligned to your standard appropriately complex.

5. Instructional Maps Include POWER standards
all POWER standards have been deconstructed (using deconstruction protocol) in PLC meetings
continue to deconstruct the remaining standards
CFA’s (common formative assessments) should be given over all power standards
K and 1st grade should use the CFA's provided by the district
All other grades may use the CFA's provided or each school may create their own in their PLC meetings
CFA results should drive instruction in your classroom
ACT Alignment has been added to all maps.

6. Lesson Plans… …are REQUIRED (Use the template)
…have been developed by our teachers
…are grade level specific
…correlate to the TEAM rubric
Lesson plan templates are available on the district website.
Student objective statements should be posted and communicated daily.
We will continue to revise each year, please send suggestions to your instructional supervisor.

7. Lesson Plans
You may alter the format of the lesson plan, but not the content(additions are acceptable).
Principals may submit an alternate lesson plan template (by grade level) to the District Instructional Team for approval.

8. Resources
Some resources are embedded in the instructional maps.
Some grade levels have shared additional resources. These will be placed on T_Apps at the school level by grade.
