2 At each rotation, answer the following questions on a Google Doc
What events (significant or daily routine) is Anne retelling? What reflection (thoughts, observations, philosophy) is she revealing? What is her tone? What evidence of the time period do you see (besides the date)?

3 Historical Diary Entry - Content
Balance between retelling of events and reflection. Retelling Significant personal or historical events or daily life. Must be accurate (or as accurate as possible). Reflection Personal observations/ judgements Secrets/ Hidden thoughts Philosophical observations or questions People write in diaries things they would never say or express in public.

4 Colloquialisms and Idioms
Colloquialism – An informal expression – usually based on local or regional dialect. Could also recognized in grammar or sentence structure To bamboozle, to go bananas, gonna, wanna, y’all, go nuts Idiom – a group of words where meaning cannot be determined from the individual words, but rather learned as a group. Piece of cake, once in a blue moon, a bed of roses, raining cats and dogs

5 Their Purpose… Establish an informal tone.
Use diction that reflects the time period. Use diction/ establish a tone that reflects figure’s personality. you-should-be-using Find texts that are written from that time period and search for idioms and colloquialisms.
