2 Browse Browse is tender growth of shrubs and trees
Ruminants – animals with stomachs of several compartments Ruminants make the best use of browse because of the hard-to-digest fibrous materials Browse is most abundant in the springtime

3 Herbage Herbage – succulent non-woody leaves and stems of herbaceous plants Includes grasses, broadleaf vines, weeds

4 Mast Mast – the fruits and nuts of trees and shrubs eaten by animal wildlife Fruits – the developed ovary of a flowering plant Fruit contains one or more seeds Fruits are high in carbohydrates and vitamins Berries – small fleshy fruits with no outer coverings Berries go through stages of development (ripening) Nuts – dry fruit enclosed in a hard shell
