1 SNEL 2nd XI Limited Over Regulations Training Sessions
Andrew Kennedy – SNEL Chairman Tom Kilby – SNEL Umpires Panel

2 Introduction At the AGM in November 2014 clubs voted to introduce a split format (9 timed games and 9 limited overs games) for 2nd XI cricket. The first limited overs matches will take place on Sat 13th June. Clubs gave the committee their endorsement to develop the 2nd XI regulations over the winter. The committee decided to use the same regulations that are played by 1st XI teams in Division 1,2 and 3. The only change was that the committee decided that the length of the games would be 45 overs rather than 50 overs.

3 Umpiring responsibilities
It is important that clubs try to provide a non-playing umpire wherever possible for the 9 limited over games in 2015. If a club fails to provide a non-playing umpire they should ensure that any player that is sent out to umpire is aware of the regulations and is capable of umpiring. If there are no non-playing umpires the batting side will provide two umpires at all times. If there is only one non-playing umpire the batting side will provide one umpire and that person will stand at square leg. If there are two non-playing umpires they will stand at one end only regardless of their level of qualification or neutrality.

4 Captaincy responsibilities
It is critical that all 2nd XI captains are fully conversant with all of the playing regulations. They should also ensure that any senior players are also aware. Captains should ensure that the pitch is marked correctly as for all 1st XI matches – wide markings, fielding and catching circles etc. Where a club fails to provide a non-playing umpire, captains should plan ahead and agree who will umpire and when. Where a club fails to provide a non-playing scorer, captains should ensure that a suitable player is delegated to score. Captains should work with any non-playing umpires and scorers when any revised targets or rain reductions are required.

5 Regulations Each club has been provided at the April meeting with 3 laminated fliers which summarise the key points regarding the regulations related to adverse weather , over reductions and revised targets. We will now go through the regulations step by step and take any comments / questions as they come. NOTE – If a target run rate / target total is calculated on the day and agreed by both teams but subsequently found to be incorrect the result will stand
