9 Case Study – CRNS Reuse Consortium
The CRNS Reuse Consortium comprises 17 accredited furniture reuse members. The consortium supports local authority areas in providing 34 key household items through the Reuse Lot of the Scotland Excel Domestic Furniture and Furnishings Framework. Currently supplying 3 local authorities: Fife, Aberdeen and Renfrewshire.

Assess your readiness for collaborating with others Appoint someone to lead the project Identify potential partners and assess compatibility Pre-start scoping and planning Establish foundations for partner and stakeholder engagement

11 Models of collaboration
Managing Agent – one organisation leads but does not deliver any of the service themselves Managing Provider – similar to managing agent but the lead organisation also delivers some of the services Super Provider – this is a formally constituted consortium which is owned and run by the members Informal Network – loose partnership of organisations where members maintain independence and control

Company A: More2Do Company B: CareLocal National Organisation (Scotland-wide), no presence in Inverness Provide Supported Living service in Raigmore Employ 600 staff across Scotland Employ 15 carers all working locally Support over 900 people throughout Scotland Specialise in complex care. Also piloted a service specifically for LGBT clients. Deliver a range of care services Until recently, all services have been fully funded either in the form of grants or SLAs from LA Have experience of winning and delivering contracts No experience of tendering process Turnover of £20m Turnover of £400k

15 What does P4P offer? P4P supports social enterprises and third sector organisations to build partnerships and consortia, and to better access public contracts and other contracting opportunities. Services include: 1-1 support to develop partnerships or consortia – exploring different models of consortia; providing practical support to build effective consortia/partnership agreements. 1-1 support with writing tenders – for example, reviewing organisations’ tender documents or help to prepare a ‘tender library’ which enable you to build a bank of information relevant to your organisation and experience   Support with carrying out research and evaluation in relation to procurement. Events and workshops on collaboration and tender development P4P website and online resources including the P4P 10 stage guide to procurement, guidance documents and templates to support organisations’ procurement journey and collaboration.

18 Ready for Business (RfB) Third Sector Register
The P4P website hosts the refreshed Ready for Business Register; which incorporates details of Supported Businesses. The register, which is open access, is a searchable database of third sector suppliers.
