1 E-permits Tutorial for first-time users
Access e-permits online at:

2 Denver’s system for electronic permits (e-permits) is robust, with new features to be rolled out over time. The system is powered by a nationwide technology vendor that is also used by many neighboring jurisdictions in the metro area. Whether you have used online permitting before or this is your first time, please familiarize yourself with this guide and keep it handy for future reference.

3 Tips Use Internet Explorer as your web browser. Other browsers may work, but not as well. Enable pop-ups Have your official contractor’s license on hand for your initial account set-up. Adding your license to your e-permits account requires exact information.

5 Registering for an Account: Getting Acquainted with the Home Screen
Start here to register for an account, and then follow the instructions on the next slide. This is your navigation bar. Home: Your dashboard, records, and account management Development Svcs: Apply for permits, search permit records, schedule inspections Business Licenses: Search business licenses and apply for a short-term rental license Contractor Licensing and Right-of-Way: Coming soon Contact information if you get stuck and need help.

(1) Fill in your desired login information. (2) Click “add new” to open a pop-up screen where you can add your contact information. Note: The address you register here does not update your on file with Contractor Licensing. (3) After you have entered contact information, click “continue” to create the account. 1 2 3

7 Using your Dashboard Once you log in, you will see your dashboard, where you can quickly resume applications or view permit collections. The dashboard is accessible from the “Home” tab. My Collection: Create permit collections by searching for specific permits under the “Development Svcs” tab or selecting permits associated with your license from “My Records.” My Records: Use “my records” to view your permit history. My Account: Use “my account” to manage your login and contact information, and to add a contractor’s license to your account. Work in Progress: Find saved applications here. 8 Adding a Contractor’s License to your Account
To apply for permits and schedule inspections via e-permits, you must have a valid contractor’s license in Denver for the type of work covered under the permit. Linking your contractor’s license to an e-permits account is simple.

From any page in e-permits, click “Account Management” at the top of your screen. This will take you to the “Manage your Account” page shown here. 1 Click here to “Add a License.” Once your license is added, it will show here under “License Information.” 2

3 Select which license type you hold. Then, enter your license number exactly as it appears on your license card, including “LIC” and any zeroes. Examples: “LIC001234” or “LIC12345” Don’t add zeroes if the license # on your card does not have any. 4 Click “Find License,” then verify that the license shown is correct and click “Connect” under the “Action” column.

11 For Added Security Confirm there is a valid on file for your license. Notifications of account activity under your license will be ed to this address, and it cannot be edited in e-permits. If you are unsure, contact Contractor Licensing at from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (M-F). To add or change an address, an owner/officer for the licensed company must submit a signed letter stating the change to be made. The letter can be ed to or dropped off in person. Note that this letter must be signed, so if it is ed, it must be an attachment with a visible signature. Typed signatures are not accepted.

12 Pro Tip After adding your license to your e-permits account, go to “My Records” (located on the “Home” tab). The “My Records” page automatically populates with all permits under your license, allowing you to easily check permit status or schedule inspections.

13 Creating Permit Collections
One of the easiest ways to add permit records to a collection is to go to the “Development Svcs” tab and search for your project’s address. Then, select the checkboxes next to the permit records you want to group, and click “add to collection.” Access collections from your dashboard (located on the “Home” tab). Search for permit records by address. Select records and click “add to collection.”

14 Pro Tip Applying for a Permit
Don’t waste time and money applying for an e-permit for work that cannot yet be permitted online. FIRST, go to and review the types of work listed there. This is the work that can be permitted via e-permits. Exceptions: Landmarks/historic districts. All exterior work in an area locally designated for preservation must apply for a Landmark review first, and cannot go through e-permits. Use the DevelopDenver map at denvergov.org/DS to check historic status. Homeowners applying for their own permits. Homeowners must apply for a quick permit in person and show a valid ID.

15 Applying for a Permit – the Online Application
1 Click on the “Development Svcs” tab and choose “Apply for a Permit.” 2 On the screens that follow, select the license associated with your account that will be used for this permit, and then choose the type of permit for which you are applying: Boiler and Commercial A/C Electrical Plumbing Mechanical Roofing and Siding If a general construction permit has already been issued for your project, do not apply for a new permit. Instead, go to "My Records" under the "Home" tab, find the correct permit record and click through from there to pay permit fees and print your permit. The “save” button is located at the bottom of every page:

5 Once you have finished the online application, continue to the payment screen. Discover, MasterCard, and Visa cards are accepted. Fees are based on your valuation of the work. You may be asked to pay additional fees if inspectors later determine the valuation is incorrect. 6 Printing your permit (permits must be posted at the job site) You will receive an ed copy of your permit after payment is processed, or From the Payment Receipt screen (shown on the left below), click “Back to Permit Center” to return to e-permits, then select the permit record from “My Records” (located on the “Home” tab), and print your permit from the “Reports” drop-down at the top of your screen. 18 1 Scheduling Inspections
To schedule an inspection, click the “Development Svcs” tab and then either: Select the permit record from your “My Records” list (which will populate after your contractor’s license has been added to your e- permits account) or Search for the permit. Type the permit number in the Record Number box and hit search.

2 Within the online permit record, open the drop-down box labeled “Record Info” and click on the “Inspections” link. To schedule, click “Schedule or Request an Inspection” and follow the software prompts. Make sure to add comments (like a contact phone number) to your inspection request before you hit “finish.” View completed inspections here. 3
