1 American Society of Military Comptrollers Adopt-A-Street Clean-up !
Sandhills Chapter PO Box 71759 Fort Bragg, NC ISSUE October 28, 2011 President’s Message... WOW! We have never had the Mayor of Fayetteville as part of our Sandhills Chapter meetings. Mr. Tony Chavonne was a captivating speaker and shared tremendous insight on how far we have come since the old days. He titled his message “Fayette-nam to Fayette-now”. Fayetteville recently was the recipient of the “All-American City” Award. We competed against dozens of other cities throughout the country and won ! I am more and more excited about the growth of our organization and the enthusiasm we are generating among our members. Training is very important for our Chapter. There is an opportunity to participate in the Enhanced Defense Financial Management Training (EDFMT) Course early next year. It is a great way to begin your certification program with the Certified Defense Financial Management (CDFM). Check out this opportunity.  Contents President’s Message Pg 1 Chapter Officers Pg 2 Committees Pg 3 Calendar of Events Pg 4 Membership Pg 5 Education/Certification Pg 6 National News Pg 7 Chapter Minutes Pg 8 Treasurer’s Report Pg 9 THE SAND DOLLAR Adopt-A-Street Clean-up ! 19 November See page 4 for details November Lunch Meeting WHEN: Thursday, November 3rd TIME: :30 AM -1:00 PM WHERE: Fort Bragg Club SPEAKER: Mr. Rich Holcomb FORSCOM G-8 TOPIC: Year-end Challenges Jeff Robinson Chapter President 1

ASMC has a comprehensive awards and recognition program that includes individual and chapter awards, as well as academic scholarship opportunities. The National Awards Committee has made some revisions to the achievement award categories that have been in place for the past several years. To summarize: Categories being removed: Analysis and Evaluation; Business Management; Education, Training and Career Development Categories remaining the same: Accounting and Finance; Auditing; Budgeting; Comptroller; Intern/Trainee; Contractor Support; Resource Management New Categories: Acquisition/Cost Analysis; Financial Systems The team achievement category will be divided into small (2-10) and large (11-20) teams. Descriptions of each of the achievement categories, and well as other award areas, will soon be available at awards.asmconline.org. Nominations for all team and individual awards will be open for submission by October 15, 2011 Need Speakers at your event? As your chapter members finish their vacations and the pace of meetings and events picks up, don't forget that the ASMC headquarters staff is available both for chapter assistance and as speakers at your events. There are a number of topics that are available covering ASMC chapter development, education and training opportunities for financial managers in DoD, CDFM Certification, career development elements for FM careerists, information technology initiatives in ASMC and administration of CDFM examinations at your local or regional PDI's. Please contact Jennifer Sizemore to discuss your needs for a National HQ speaker at your event. ASMC defrays all costs associated with these visits; however, some requirements must be met prior to securing a CDFM testing event.
