1 WLTP-DTP-LabProcICE-132
Assessment of the loading ratio of light-duty commercial vehicles in Japan Prepared by Japan WLTP DTP Lab Process ICE subgroup in Brussels

2 “Annual Statistics of Automotive Transport”
(published by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) This statistics is aimed to find out the current status of transportation by passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles in Japan. The total traffic volume and travel distance are estimated by asking the questionnaire to vehicle owners. The results for light duty commercial vehicles are: FY2007 FY2008 FY2010 A. Transport ton-km (million ton-km) 8,234 8,063 7,810 B. Capability ton-km 75,861 74,317 71,260 Loading ratio =A/B(%) 10.9 11.0 Ave=10.9(%) A. Transport ton-km: Actual transported load ×Travel distance B. Capability ton-km: Permissible load ×Travel distance

3 Proposal by the Netherlands, T&E and ICCT
in 8th DTP based on AEA report JPN EU Laden Mass Loading ratio in Japan was turned out to be less than 10.9% of (LM-RM). Remaining Capacity Permissible load 10.9% 35% Technically Permissible Max. Laden Mass (TPMLM) Maximum Permissible Weight (MPW) LM Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) Option+ # seats Option +100kg UK (based on AEA report) Japan Other region/country Loading Ratio(%) 35 Less than 10.9 ? Travel distance(million km) 49050 135389 RM Curb weight “More studies should be undertaken in various regions to find out the world-harmonized value.”
