Let us serve God well today. God will provide for tomorrow. Each day must shoulder its own care. .

4. Golden Counsel (II)
There are souls who make great plans to perform wonderful services for our Lord by way of lofty deeds and extraordinary sufferings, but they are deeds and sufferings for which no occasion presents itself and perhaps never will present itself. In making such plans they think they have performed a great feat of love, but in that they are often deceived. This is shown by the fact that while they embrace by desire, as they think, great future crosses, they carefully shirk the burden of lesser crosses actually present.

The present moment allows us to keep aware of the presence of God.
No time like the present.

It’s a pillar of stability for the spiritual life.

6. Avoids two extremes
Living in the past: where we are often weighed down by previous failures or missed opportunities &
Yearning for the future: where we can easily drift away to daydreaming about what is not yet or may never be

7. Carpe Diem
Where we have come from and where we are going is not nearly as important as where we are, for God is surely found there.

8. Concentrating on the Present Moment
Avoids anxiety about past & future
Gives focus to God’s will here & now
Keeps us aware of God’s continuous presence
Unites us to God’s will

9. Final Counsel
Do not look forward to what might happen tomorrow; the same everlasting Father who cares for you today will care for you tomorrow and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering or He will give you an unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace, then, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.
