1 SITTING LESS AND MOVING MORE IN OUR WORKPLACE
What we can do to improve the health and well-being of staff Date: Organisation: Name:

2 How to use this presentation template
This template has been created by the Health Promotion Agency to accompany the ‘A guide to sitting less and moving more for office workplaces’. It can be used by anyone responsible for workplace wellness.  Use the template to create a presentation for management and staff to gain their support for introducing a sit less, move more programme in your workplace. It has been designed so you can tailor the title page and remove content that is not relevant to your workplace.  There are also blank slides where you can insert your own content. Delete this instructions page once you have finished tailoring the template. The template and guidelines are free and available from August 2014

3 Why encourage staff to sit less and move more?
This is an easy no-cost or low-cost programme that will benefit our workplace through: more productive staff reduced absenteeism increased staff engagement greater talent attraction and retention.

4 Everyone – even people who are already physically active and those who currently do no activity – will benefit from sitting less and moving more.

5 Did you know? Most employees spend at least eight hours each day at work. This means the work environment and culture can significantly influence employees’ health.

6 Did you know? Sitting has become the default for many office tasks.
Stand-up meetings are more productive and shorter.

7 What will it involve? Identify key staff to be champions.
Identify what changes we can easily implement. Develop a plan for our workplace. Raise awareness with staff. Make the changes. Sustain the changes and celebrate success.

8 Practical ideas Hold stand-up meetings (they are quicker too).
Display posters that prompt staff to sit less and move more. Provide a stand-up table in the lunch room. Re-arrange furniture to create a stand-up reading area. Organise staff challenges such as walking, pedometer or stair challenges. Encourage staff to use active transport (walking, cycling etc). [or choose other ideas from Appendix 1 of Guide to sitting less and moving more for office workplaces]
