3 Driving Requirements (From "Detailed Mission Requirements for the SDO") The DDS (Data Distribution System) shall forward captured science data files from each instrument directly to each instruments SOC (Science Operations Center). The SOCs are responsible for the long-term science archive. Ancillary data shall be exchanged between the DDS and SOCs to provide data quality information, track the status of file transmissions and permit requests for retransmissions as needed. The MOC (Mission Operation Center) will be responsible for forwarding instrument health and safety telemetry to the respective science teams. Instrument command information will be forwarded by the respective SOCs to the MOC for uplink to the observatory.
