2 Routes of the First Americans The Paleo-Indians migrated across the land bridge that once linked Asia and America. They then journeyed southward and eastward in populating North and South America.

3 The Aztecs, Mayas, and Incas The Aztecs, Mayas, and Incas evolved from simple, agriculturally based groups to become politically and socially complex civilizations.

5 Voyages of Exploration The European exploration of the Americas came in waves after Columbus's initial voyages in the late 1400s.
