2. Design & Manufacture Higher Has two compulsory units. Design
Materials and Manufacturing
The two Units must be completed and passed before learners can progress onto the Higher Course Assessment task.

4. Component 1
The Course Assignment which is internally assessed will have 70 marks. This is 50% of the overall marks.
Evidence will be in the form of a design folio. Which covers the following areas.
Generating ideas.
Exploring and refining ideas.
Applying graphic techniques.
Applying modelling techniques.
Applying knowledge and understanding of materials and processes.
Applying knowledge and understanding of design issues.

5. Component 2
The Question Paper which is externally assessed will have 70 marks. This is 50% of the overall marks.
The questions will focus on design factors and justification of materials and manufacturing processes associated with a product.
