Mitral Annulus Disjunction (MAD) Arrhythmic Syndrome One hundred and sixteen patients with mitral annulus disjunction (MAD) were enrolled in the study, of which 14 had experienced aborted cardiac arrest (ACA) or sustained ventricular tachycardia (VT) (top). (Top left) An echocardiogram with pronounced MAD. (Top right) An original electrocardiogram (ECG) from an implantable loop recorder from one of the study participants. A total of 90 patients with MAD had concomitant mitral valve prolapse (MVP) (bottom left), while 26 patients with MAD did not have MVP (bottom right). Severe ventricular arrhythmias (ACA or VT) were frequent in the study participants, and were more prevalent in MAD without MVP, chi-square test, p = 0.003. Lars A. Dejgaard et al.
