2 Religion/SS: Sandland Reading/Writing: Silva
Religion → The children will meditate on the mystery of the coming of the Son of God by watching the first part of the movie Jesus of Nazareth, and listening to guided meditations and journaling their thoughts. Going out of town and need to find Mass? MassTimes.org or the MassTimes app gives you Mass times for churches across the United States and in 6 continents.. Ch! MASS TIMES Social Studies → Learners continue to research key information on their mission, as outlined in their report guidelines. This report will be completed in class, and learners will use a photocopied packet on their specific mission, and two child-friendly Mission websites. Reading/Writing: Silva Reading→Readers are continuing to grow significant ideas about their characters. After practicing the application of new skills using our mentor text, students used padlet to share their ideas with me and their classmates. Readers are learning to build defensible ideas by citing evidence directly from the text to support their thoughts. Visit the padlet links below to see the ideas they are growing: 4A: 4B: 4C: This week we will work on finding complications in our characters. Writing→ Last week writers continued writing and revising. We are working in small groups to perfect our use of dialogue as well as self-correcting using a checklist. Writers learned when to start new paragraphs in writing and are working to prepare for final drafts. Grammar, Spelling/Vocabulary & Technology→This week in class, we will continue utilizing Grammar IXL and Moby Max Vocabulary. There will be no ELA homework this week. STEM: Driscoll Math→Last week, learners continue to learn multiplication, working on 3 digit x 2 digit numbers and focus on regrouping. Learners are doing a wonderful job applying the standard algorithm to double digit numbers. We will continue to practice that skill this week. It is a math skill that will follow them for years to come, so we want to make sure learners are confident and understand. Also, learners are continuing to learn long division with remainders. Science→ On Friday, learners collaborated to transfer their blueprint for building the missions onto their base. This was a challenging process that required learners to rely on understanding of squares/rectangles, perimeter/area, and measurement. Minecraft learners continued constructing their missions in Minecraft. Missions will be due the Friday we come back from Christmas Break (1/12). The week we come back, we will need parent volunteers to help with the construction of the missions! I will send a Sign Up Genius later this week after our work day. That will allow me to have a better feel of how many days we will need volunteers when we return. Simple Solutions→ Simple Solutions Lessons There will be no Simple Solutions lessons this week! Merry Christmas :)
