1 Week 5: 11/28/16-12/02/16 This Week’s Learning Contact Information Susan Smith Ext. 125 ELA Reading – We are reading Thunder Cake this week and focusing on character motivation and point of view. Writing – Students will be doing some Holiday writing projects in the next few weeks. Spelling – We will be focusing on irregular plural nouns this week. Math Students are beginning Ch. 5 Understanding Division. In this chapter they will be learning about the concept of division and how it relates to Multiplication. Religion Advent has begun and we will be spending Extra time devoted to this special time of year. Students will be writing prayers and reflecting on the season. Social Studies We will begin researching for our Washington Native American Tribe projects this week. Students will pick their tribe and begin taking notes on the required sections. Information is being sent home and everything is also on my website. Notes will be due December 9th. Important Dates November 27th – Advent begins November 29th – Diabetes Awareness Assembly (Wear Seahawk or Sounders colors) November 30th – Open House December 2nd – Camping/Electronic Party (Free Dress) December 2nd – First Trimester Report Cards go home December 4th – St. Nick Brunch December 8th - Mass of the Immaculate Conception 9:30 December 14th – Christmas Pageant 6:30 Notes from Teacher Dear Parents, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with love, laughter, gratitude and family. It was great meeting with each family last week. Students did a great job leading their conferences and setting goals for their learning. I look forward to seeing them achieve their goals in the coming months. We have a busy few weeks before Christmas break. Lots of exciting things happening in our classroom. Tuesday we are having a special assembly for Diabetes awareness month and students may wear Sounders or Seahawks colors that day. Friday is our Camping/Electronic party. Students may wear free dress and bring sleeping bags, pop up tents and an electronic (iPad, iPod, Kindle, tablet, etc.) to use during party. We will be camping out in our classroom in the afternoon.
