1 ASOSAI’s Strategic Planning Experience
IDI-INTOSAI Regions workshop Oslo 4-6 September 2017

2 Basic information Question Region’s status/response
When last has your Region carried out a strategic planning exercise? Since its launch in 2013, the ASOSAI Strategic Plan Management Task Force (T/F) has held meetings to effectively devise and implement its Strategic Plan To what extent have you used the INTOSAI Framework for Regional Professionalism and IDI Guidance on Strategic Management in INTOSAI Regions to guide your strategic planning and to create maximum value for your member SAIs? During its preparation for the Strategic Plan , ASOSAI has received the assistance from the IDI in understanding the Strategic Plans of INTOSAI and IDI, as well as other performance measurement systems. Based on such understanding, it could decide its strategic goals and activities, and discuss how to measure the implementation.

5 Planning & Designing a programme Programme evaluation and follow up
What capacity have you created, or do you plan to create to achieve region’s objectives? ASOSAI provides capacity development programs based on the assessed needs of SAIs. This is to actively respond to and take care of demands from the member SAIs (e.g. ISSAI Implementation, PA, and SDGs) In addition, ASOSAI plans to develop capacity to carry out CD programs through blended learning approach. Also, ASOSAI values the follow-up activities to ensure that the capacity has been actually built and applied to their own works Assessing Needs Planning & Designing a programme Programme Delivery Programme Monitoring Programme evaluation and follow up

6 Conclusion Question Region’s advice & suggestions
Is there any advice that you wish to ask of the other Regions and role players at the workshop (in terms of some of the challenges that you may be experiencing in carrying out strategic planning)? ASOSAI wants to hear the experiences of other Regional Organizations regarding how to measure the implementation of their strategic plans, as well as effect of capacity development programs Do you have any suggestions for enhancements to the INTOSAI Framework of Regional Professionalism and/or the IDI Guidance on Strategic Management in INTOSAI Regions? Still, the guidance on performance measurement and reporting might need to be better elaborated.
